8 września 2014 roku, o godzinie 10:25 brytyjskiego czasu, rzecznik brytyjskiej rodziny królewskiej przekazał światu radosną nowinę... księżna Catherine i książę William spodziewają się swojego drugiego dziecka.

Ich Królewskie Wysokości Książę i Księżna Cambridge z radością informują, że Księżna spodziewa się ich drugiego dziecka. Królowa oraz członkowie obu rodzin są zachwyceni tą wiadomością.

Tak, jak w przypadku pierwszej ciąży księżna cierpi na Hypermesis Gravidarum. Księżna jest pod opieką lekarzy w pałacu Kensington.

Płeć dziecka nie została podana, a narodziny były spodziewane na koniec kwietnia 2015 roku.

W sobotę, 2 maja 2015 roku, o godzinie 6:00 brytyjskiego czasu, księżna Catherine została przyjęta do szpitala św. Marii w Londynie. Na miejsce przywiózł ja książę William; wtedy księżna była w początkowej fazie porodu. Po godzinie 12:00 ogłoszono narodziny małej córeczki Kate i Williama. Dziewczynka przyszła na świat o godzinie 8:34 lokalnego czasu i ważyła 3,75 kg. O jej narodzinach pierwsza dowiedziała się królowa Elżbieta, następnie rodzina książęcej pary, a na końcu informacja obiegła cały świat.

Już w dniu narodzin para książęca wraz z córeczką opuścili szpital i udali się do pałacu Kensington. Stało się to kilka minut po godzinie 19:00 polskiego czasu. Na jej cześć wiele ważnych obiektów w Londynie i nie tylko zostało podświetlonych na różowo. Były to m.in. wieża mostu Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square, The London Eye, London's Golden Jubilee Bridge, Parliament Hill Peace Tower czy Niagara Falls. Jej zdjęcia pojawiły się na okładkach niemalże wszystkich brytyjskich gazet. Z okazji jej narodzin wydano oficjalne monety, które także otrzymały  dzieci urodzone tego samego dnia co księżniczka. 4 maja 2015 roku cały świat dowiedział się jakie imiona otrzymała córeczka Kate i Williama.

Księżna Kate i Książę William z radością informują, że nazwali swoją córkę:

Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. Księżniczka będzie tytułowana:

Jej Królewska Wysokość Księżniczka

 Charlotte Elizabeth Diana z Cambridge 

Nadane jej imiona nie są przypadkowe. Imię Charlotte jest to inna odmiana imienia Carole czyli imienia mamy księżnej Kate. Jest to również żeński odpowiednik imienia Charles czyli taty księcia Williama. Imię Charlotte jest drugim imieniem siostry Catherine, Pippy Middleton. Natomiast imię Elizabeth nadano jej na cześć jej prababci - królowej Elżbiety II. Natomiast imię Diana na cześć jej tragicznie zmarłej babci- księżnej Diany.

Następnego dnia, 5 maja narodziny księżniczki Charlotte zostały zarejestrowane przez księcia Williama,w pałacu Kensington, w obecności Alison Cathcart - urzędniczki z Westminster Register Office.

Chrzest księżniczki Charlotte odbył się 5 lipca 2015 roku, w kościele Św.Marii Magdaleny w Sandrigham. W tym samym kościele, 30 sierpnia 1961 roku , została ochrzczona matka księcia Williama, księżna Diana. Ceremonia miała charakter prywatny.  Zaczęła się po godz. 17:30 i trwała pół godziny. Wzięły w niej udział tylko 22 osoby: najbliższa rodzina, rodzice chrzestni wraz z małżonkami i niania księcia George'a i księżniczki Charlotte -  Maria Borallo. Ceremonię poprowadził arcybiskup Canterbury - Justin Welby. Księżniczka Charlotte była ubrana w szatę, którą wykonała Angela Kelly. Jest to replika kostiumu stworzonego w 1841 roku dla córki królowej Wiktorii. Embed from Getty Images

9 lipca, opublikowano oficjalne zdjęcia ze chrztu Charlotte. Wykonano je w Sandringham House, w posiadłości do której rodzina wraz z zaproszonymi gośćmi udali się po ceremonii na skromny poczęstunek. Zdjęcia wykonał Mario Testino - ulubiony fotograf brytyjskiej rodziny królewskiej.

Pierwszą oficjalną podróżą księżniczki Charlotte był Royal Tour po Kanadzie. Odbyła się ona w dniach 24 września - 1 października 2016 roku. W czasie gdy para książęca odbywała oficjalne wyjścia, małą Charlotte i George'm zajmowała się niania, Maria Borallo. W czasie tej kilkudniowej podróży mogliśmy zobaczyć małą księżniczkę:

24 września - Powitanie na lotnisku w Victorii

29 września - Przyjęcie dla dzieci w ogrodach Government House

1 października - Zakończenie Royal Tour w Kanadzie

Pierwsze, oficjalne wyjście z udziałem księżniczki Charlotte odbyło się 11 czerwca 2016 roku. Wtedy w Londynie miało miejsce Trooping The Colour - uroczystości związane z urodzinami Królowej Elżbiety - prababci małej Charlotte. Miała okazję przyglądać się latającym śmigłowcom wraz z rodzicami i starszym bratem.

23 kwietnia urodził się drugi brat księżniczki Charlotte - książę Louis. Z tego powodu, w towarzystwie taty, udali się na spotkanie z mamą i nowym członkiem rodziny. Embed from Getty Images

Księżniczka miała okazję uczestniczyć w obchodach Platynowego Jubileuszu Królowej Elżbiety II w 2022 roku:

Księżniczka Charlotte rozpoczęła swoją edukację w styczniu 2018 roku, przystępując do Willcocks Nursery School, która znajduje się w dzielnicy Kensington w Londynie. Od września 2019 roku do lata 2022 roku uczęszczała do szkoły podstawowej Thomas' Battersea School.
